I found this exact question on LinkedIn about a month ago and found it to be a very thought provoking question...I have my thoughts, but would like to here from others as to their take on this question. Let the dialogue begin!

Glad to see a new member and post! Great question too - I'd like to see several responses to this.

I think it is an inherent quality, and depending on your beliefs, it is derived by divine intervention, or by learned experience somewhere in the evolutionary chain. Throughout history evidence exists to show that, even in war, humans have challenged themselves to become greater for many purposes. Some for selfish reasons, and others for the greater good.

I am fascinated by it because being a leader means doing positive things that affect others, and that is assuming we all agree that being a leader at something is always a positive. Hitler may disagree, but even he thought it was for the greater good. So I think my nature to help others using what I know, naturally drives an interest in leadership. Or is it that being a leader is a part of my make up, and I am just now learning to really tap it.... hmmmm.....
