- I am a retired college professor. I travel extensively, often have bookmarks in a dozen books at one time, and I have nearly a dozen perennial gardens. I love to spend time with my grandchildren, and it is because of my own children and my grandchildren that I am an active member of FairTaxKC. When I first heard the term Fair Tax, my first thought was: That's an oxymoron. There's no such thing as fairness when it comes to our tax system. I read The Fairtax Book and started attending meetings in Johnson County. I realized that this is something I would like to have for my children and grandchildren. Maybe my grandchildren will NEVER need to pay taxes according to the current tax code. I am one of the few Democrats who regularly attend these meetings and want to encourage people of any political stripe to get involved. This is not about politics; it's about a non-transparent, complicated tax system that is broken and cannot be fixed. Join us in creating a tax code that is, indeed, fair to every citizen in this country.
