
Kansas City Ink Magazine contacted me about a month ago to see if my boyfriend and business partner Micah LaCerte and I would be interested in being the official trainers for a group of five different people with different weight loss goals, from all different parts of the city, for a six week weight loss challenge. We of course said that we would love to help out!
Two weeks ago we were able to meet each of the contestants in person at our personal training studio, the Hitch Fit Gym which is at 3036 Gillham. They came in one by one to get their body fat, measurements and weight taken, everyone had "before" pictures done, and we had a chance to sit down with them each to find out what their goals were and what they were currently doing as far as eating, cardiovascular conditioning, and strength training.
Even though each person had slightly different goals, they all basically wanted to lose body fat..whether the reason was to improve health and lower cholesterol, or to fit into a new cute dress, or into an old wedding dress....it boiled down to dropping the pounds, shedding the fat and building and maintaining some healthy lean muscle tissue. All their goals can be achieved by eating a clean, balanced diet, strength training and getting in plenty of cardio to burn off excess fat.
We then set each of them up with a nutrition plan to follow, workouts to do and guidelines on how much cardio to be doing. The solution for each of them is very similar, the majority of them desperately needed to change their eating habits, feeding on junk food, high fats, high sugar foods every day has had it's effect on expanding waist lines and making bodyfat percentages go through the roof... this in turn causes great risk for developing a wide variety of diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Some of these contestants already actually have one or more of these issues, so a change is definitely needed!
The latest Kansas City Ink Magazine is out on newstands citywide now, you will find the introductions to all the competitors there, along with an introduction to Micah and myself! The contestants are actually two weeks into the challenge already and I can report that they are all making some great progress towards greater health and fitness! Follow along with them, root for them, they need encouragement and positive feedback from you! Pick up a copy when you can and check out what our recommendations were for each person.
