Recently I caught up with an old friend who's name is
Kara Miller with
HighPointe Financial Group. I have not seen her for a few years. During our conversation I asked what they did to give back to the community? I was really was intrigued at this notion that they really didn't do much in giving back to the community but she stopped me and stated that they do!
Kara stated that under the
LifeBridge Free Life Insurance Program offered by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company they will issue a $50,000 life insurance policy to a trust for a period of 10 years and at no cost to you. MassMutual pays the premiums. If you die within that time period, the $50,000 is used to cover the educational expenses of your children. And your children have 10 years after your death or until age 35 (whichever is later) to use this $50,000 educational benefit. (it is a one page form, need to be employed, one per household, between the ages of 19-42, and get blood + urine samples)
Kara also mentioned to me that if the children decide not to use the money then it can be donated to the charity of your choice. Considering my personal situation with my two eldest son's who have a rare neurological disease called
Niemann-Pick Type C Disease, I thought this was a wonderful thing to do for my family. I don't have any clue when I will "expire" but I will put my money on that it will take place. Our good God willing hopefully that doesn't happen soon. I just think it would be a great thing to be able to give $50,000 to a charity in the event the children didn't use it?
I just had to share this program with everyone. What impressed me with my friend the most was her approach on developing her business. She is taking a "I give first" vs the "what can you do for me first" attitude. Being very familiar with her industry I understand the need to make a sale so you can live yourself. I have complete faith that if she keeps her attitude in line she will win more business than 50% of her office in Kansas City because she offered a free service, no COMMISSION product first to enhance people's lives. I know, I know...it's life insurance and no one likes talking about it. Matter of fact I just saw my neighbor just sweep his under his floor mat because he didn't want to talk about it either (just kidding ha ha).
